So... Do You Sell a Spiderman Kigurumi?

We get asked about Spider-Man kigurumi all the time. Same with Pokemon, Disney characters, Star Wars, and pretty much any major franchise you can think of. It's probably the most common question in our inbox.
As the featured image of this article already suggests, the answer is no. We don't sell character kigurumi from these franchises.
The reason is pretty straightforward - licensing. Characters like Spider-Man and Pikachu are owned by large companies. Making products with these characters requires official licenses that are designed for different manufacturer standards. The contractual requirements just don't work the same as it has been since taking a more open route.
Also, you've probably seen character kigurumi on other websites. A lot of these are unauthorized products. The sellers aren't paying anything to the actual copyright owners. They operate until they receive legal notices or run their businesses from regions with different copyright enforcement standards.
If a Bocchi X Donki collab can work, then...
Of course, we'd be happy to sell licensed character kigurumi if we could get the licenses. We'd love nothing more than to offer a proper Spider-Man or Totoro design in our collection. The demand is clearly there, and we'd jump at the opportunity if it became feasible one way or another.
Maybe the licensing situation will change eventually. Large companies might create more updated licensing programs for more types of business modalities, or we might eventually see the point where the current requirements make sense for us. Until then, we'll stick with creating our own original designs.
Our current collection might not have the instant recognition of major franchise characters, but each design is created with attention to detail and quality construction. That's something we can do without navigating the complex world of intellectual property licensing.
And if anyone from a major licensing department happens to read this and wants to work with our team - we'd definitely be interested. Leave an email for us at: licensing@kigurumi.com so that we can work out a deal!
